Position: Grief Counselor
Department: Social Work and Human Services > Counseling
Reports to: Counseling Supervisor

Job Summary:
The Grief Counselor is responsible for providing compassionate counseling services to individuals and families dealing with grief and loss. The primary objective of this role is to support and guide clients through the grieving process, helping them to cope with their emotions and rebuild their lives. The Grief Counselor will utilize a variety of therapeutic techniques and interventions to address the unique needs of each client.

Key Responsibilities:
1. Conduct individual and group counseling sessions to assist clients in processing their grief and managing their emotions effectively.
2. Develop and implement personalized treatment plans that address the specific needs and goals of each client.
3. Provide a safe and supportive environment for clients to openly express their emotions and thoughts related to their grief.
4. Assess clients' mental health status, identify any signs of severe distress, and make appropriate referrals to other professionals or support services, if necessary.
5. Collaborate with other members of the counseling team to ensure holistic care and coordinate services that meet the overall needs of clients.

7. Stay informed about current research, best practices, and emerging trends in grief counseling, attending relevant training and professional development opportunities as required.

Qualifications:
1. Master's degree in Social Work, Counseling, Psychology, or a related field.
2. Valid state licensure or certification as a Professional Counselor, Social Worker, or related discipline.
3. Proven experience in providing grief counseling or related mental health services.
4. Excellent knowledge of grief theories, models, and interventions.
5. Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to establish rapport and build trusting relationships with clients.
6. Empathy and sensitivity towards individuals experiencing grief, loss, or trauma.
